FAQs
Here are some common questions we get from guests before or after booking.
Do you have recommendations for local hikes?
There are a number of hikes that start right at the gate to the property!
You can even start at the bottom (parking here) and hike to the house!
Some other favorites:
– Leo Cronin Fish Viewing Area: enjoy a short walk in the redwoods and spot salmon in the creek in the winter, or hike all the way to Kent Lake.
– Roy’s Redwoods Preserve: hikes of various lengths. Look for Wilderness Way! Great for young kids.
What should we pack for our stay?
To make the most of your time at the property, we recommend bringing the following:
– Swimsuits: The hot tub is ready and waiting! Be sure to pack swimwear so you can soak in the views.
– Indoor Shoes or Slippers: To keep our wood floors clean and your feet cozy, we ask that “outdoor adventures” stay at the door. Bringing a pair of slippers will keep you comfortable inside and makes the walk to and from the hot tub much more convenient.
– Layers: Weather on the mountain can be unpredictable. Even in the summer, mornings and evenings are often chilly and windy, so a warm sweater or light jacket is essential.
– Groceries & Supplies: Given our unique location, we highly recommend stocking up on groceries before you arrive. This allows you to settle in fully and avoid making extra trips back down the mountain once you’ve started your retreat.
Can I check in early?
We love to accommodate early check ins when possible. However, if there is a guest checking out the same day you check in, our cleaning team will likely need until the official check in time to finish preparing for your arrival. Please contact us prior to check in to inquire!
Are pets allowed?
Yes, up to two pets are allowed with an additional pet fee to cover additional cleaning costs and insurance requirements. For the maintenance of the property, guests are required to supervise their pets at all times and ensure they remain off all upholstered furniture and beds.
What kinds of kitchen supplies are provided?
In addition to pots/ pans/ utensils/ dining ware, we have some basic seasonings & oil.
What kind of coffee equipment do you have?
For coffee, we have a Keurig machine, a French press, and a traditional drip coffee maker. You’ll also find a selection of k-cups, ground coffee packets, and hot chocolate available in the kitchen.
Can I get restaurant or grocery deliveries to the house?
Unfortunately, because the house is behind two private gates (the first of which is two miles from the property), restaurant and grocery deliveries are not recommended. We suggest you stop by to get groceries or take out before you check in.
Can I have visitors who are not staying overnight?
To ensure the comfort of all our guests and comply with local regulations, our property has a maximum occupancy of 9 people at any given time. This includes both overnight guests and daytime visitors. Please ensure your total group size does not exceed 9 people throughout your stay and that your reservation accurately represents your total guest count.
What is the parking situation at the property?
We can accommodate a maximum of 3 cars on-site. Because the approach involves a one-way road with some unpaved sections, we highly recommend carpooling to simplify your arrival. Keeping the vehicle count low helps ensure a smooth experience for you and our neighbors on the narrow access road.
What type of vehicle is recommended for the drive up the mountain?
Most standard vehicles—including sedans and minivans—handle the road to the property without issue. However, because the final approach involves unpaved sections and mountain grades, vehicles with higher clearance or AWD can provide a more comfortable ride. If you are visiting during the winter months, an AWD or 4WD vehicle is recommended to help navigate the terrain confidently in wet weather.
Is it cheaper to book directly here, or through Airbnb and VRBO?
You get the absolute lowest rate by booking directly with us. When you book through major platforms like Airbnb or VRBO, they tack on hidden middleman fees that drive up the total cost. Because we manage this site directly, we don’t have to pay those massive platform commissions—and we pass those structural savings right back to you.
